I have not been happy with Instagram lately, as most people probably are. It used to be nice to look through the pictures of all the accounts I follow and I could be immersed in it for ages! Now I see the same few accounts over and over, and mostly it is pictures that I’ve already liked. It takes extra effort to go to the other accounts to check what they’ve been posting and I don’t usually have that kind of time! Many might say that I should then just turn on the notifications, however, I find it annoying that I should be checking those pictures when the app says so, instead of when I actually want to check them!
Sorry about the rant, I still enjoy looking through the pictures on Instagram and hope they could change it back! Now enjoy the pics I have been enjoying in July.
What Instagram pictures have you liked last month?
When I started compiling these pics I thought at first how different they were compared to May, however, it seems they aren’t that different. There are still a lot of plants, although the colouring is leaning more towards pastel, rather than bright pink. I have few illustration here still, but not quite as many. This month I’ve definitely concentrated more on the positive message and sustainability, in addition to some decor dreams and office inspiration. I hope you are visually as inspired as I am!
What were your favourite pics in June? Let me know in the comment box below!
May was full of amazing and exciting Instagram pictures and it was quite difficult to only choose these few here from all the amazing ones. It was also quite funny to see which pictures I was more drawn towards, such as office pics, home decor, illustrations, the beauty of female body and beautifully colourful pics.

I am absolutely in love with the Cabaret of Planets book, which I received for my birthday. It has been an excellent evening read, as it is interesting but does not make my heart pump with excitement so that I can’t sleep. The illustrations and pictures are lovely and it is so wonderful to read about the diversity of plants. The thousands of years old trees, the weird places where flowers bloom, how people are affected by plants and how they are discovered. This time I was really inspired by one of the illustrations in the book, which was part of illustration series called ‘Plants of the Coast of Coromandel’. The illustrations are stunning, so I just had to share them with you!
These pics I got from the Pinterest board Biodiversity library and I encourage those of you who loved these illustrations to go and check other ones that can be found there!
This summer has been truly very busy for me and while I am quite excited to get more me time in September I have really enjoyed all that has happened in August. It was a warm month with a lot of work, friends, getting back to my daily routine. There has been a lot of laughter while I have been able to take some down time every now and then to relax and gather my thoughts. After being a bit stressed for a couple of days about the starting Autumn I have finally made some plans that will ground me down and keep my routine and make me happy about the future, more about soon!
Looking back what I have been talking about on my blog in August it seems that I have been travelling my fair share and wrote about it in August. My travels have taken me on a road trip with friends around the beautiful and tranquil Scottish Highlands. I should go back there anytime I need to get out of the city! I have enjoyed a couple of little trips to beautiful old towns of Vianden and Metz where I have been totally amazed by their castles and cathedrals, and I have spent some time roaming around the Luxembourg city with my family. Living away from my family makes me treasure the times when I see them!
My own research into sustainability has found me new information on the problems of sustainability in the fashion industry which I discuss in Overdressed and True Cost. In addition, I found two online brands which are amazingly innovative with the sustainability. The Post-Couture Collective, which has innovated a new way to create fashion and Buy Me Once, which promotes a new way of shopping for products.
I have been so busy that goals and self-improvement have not really been on my mind. However, I have thought about my social awkwardness a bit, especially in the context of complimenting.
August has been full of favourites from finding a book on a bus to favourite illustrators, feminist interviews and working in a photo studio. I have truly been fortunate with my happy moments, but then it is all in the attitude. I like my life happy and inspired, so I look around and find it.
How has your August been?
I am a very visual person. I love colour, I love looking at a great scenery and I love art. Illustrators are one of my favourite things to follow on Instagram and I am always finding new people who to follow and who’s art to awe at. There are some who make my heart jump up a beat, that makes me happy, makes me crave to look at that piece forever. I would love to have a gallery wall of my favourite illustrations, and someday I probably will. But for now, I wanted to share a couple of my favourite ones.
A Finnish illustrator who I stumbled upon ages ago. He is most known probably for his illustrations on dishes but does so much more. I love his detail in the imaging and the use of colour. His illustrations remind me of russian folklore and I love the animals and especially cats in his illustrations. I have been dreaming of a dish set that is illustrated by him and I am completely obsessed with his Instagram account and so sorry for myself when I see all the products they only release in Japan!
Another Finnish illustrator, Laura Laine has a wide portfolio of illustrations done for fashion companies. Her style is very unique and I recognise it most often by the amazing hair. It is not as colourful but still very detailed and interesting. She combines animals and florals in her illustrations so cleverly. Check out more of her work here.
Is an Australian illustrator with amazing colourful graphic illustrations. The amount and combination of colour is so wonderful and taking inspiration from common things as well as children’s toys, her illustrations are happy and cheerful. Her Instagram account is so cheerful it’s like a pop of happy mood for your day!
Do you know any other illustrators who I might love?
I am a strong believer in dreaming and pursuing your dreams. When I was only 7 years old I wished for a particular Barbie doll for a Christmas gift, and remember dreaming about it every day for about a month. Imagine my relief when I finally got it on Christmas eve! When I was in my teens I wished to move abroad to study, although I never believed my English to be strong enough for it, however, when the opportunity presented itself I went for it full heartedly and studied my way into University.
In my life I’ve had many dreams, some which I would cry to the whole Universe, other which I like to keep to myself. But I was always dreaming and planning how to make those dreams come true.
Dreaming gives me imagination and joy, but it also inspires me and powers me for when I am faced with problems or sadness. I remember a period in school, when I wasn’t particularly happy and I tended to dream through the classes without engaging to any of the teaching. This of course was not ideal, but when my mood was better I got back on track. Dreaming keeps me sane when I am depressed and helps me find my way to attain my goals.
For long now, I have dreamt of making a job out of my hobby and I finally have. I opened my very own shop on Etsy selling my illustrations! This is really scary and at the same time very exciting for me, however, I determine to stay excited as I have such big plans for my shop! I do not want reveal them all just now, but I promise to keep you the loop of what is happening. If you wish to see any more of my illustrations check the “shop” page of my website or go to my Etsy shop. Please also bear in mind that the colours do vary depending on the screen resolution.
Do you like dreaming? Do you have attained some big dream of yours?
