A Beauty Tip – My Favourite Lush Product At The Moment

I was asking my friend to recommend me a good cuticle cream to combat my very dry cuticle and when she mentioned the Lemony Flutter by Lush I marched into the shop and got myself a small tub of it.

It goes without saying that I am in love with the product now. It has a lovely lemony scent without being overpowering, it absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave greasy stains and it works on any patch of dry skin. I’m loving it! I use it daily and it doesn’t look like I would get bored of it anytime soon. I also love that Lush recycled their tubs so I am not just buying a bunch of packaging that goes to the landfill, but rather as soon as I have collected five tubs I will carry them back to Lush and receive a face mask for free, hurray for that!

Happy Favourites of the Week – Midsummers Night

Fine Deodorant – My friend gave me a sample of this brands vetiver and geranium natural deodorant and it is the best that I have tried! The scent is nice, it lasted me with one application to the next shower (except for a tough and sweaty yoga class but I didn’t expect it to) and the best thing, it is aluminium free! Now I just need to acquire the full sized one, unfortunately, they are pretty pricey.

Wonder Woman – We finally went to see wonder woman to the cinema, after planning for it for about two weeks. I liked the “girl power” message of the movie and how real and awful they made the war seem, although it also made me very sad. This movie made me consider whether I should change blogging about feminism solely! There is a wonder woman in every one of us!

Maisoap Scrub – This is a bunch of lovely soap in an organdie type bag, which when used under water cleans and scrubs gently. I thought the idea was genius although doesn’t provide a harsh scrub, just a gentle one. The company and product information are in German and this is not one of their usual products, so I am not sure if it is supposed to be a scrub or just a way of using all the rest of the soap bits, but still genius!

Earth 911 – I stumbled onto this website when I was researching the recycling of disposable straws and I can’t believe I never knew about it! It is a website where you can enter the item that you want to recycle and where you live and it will tell you whether it can be recycled and where! (and learned that where I live I cannot recycle disposable straws) In addition, it has a lot of tips for sustainable living and information on the development within sustainability with articles and videos.

Midsummer night fun with friends – Midsummer night does not seem to be a big thing in the UK or the USA, but it is big in the Nordic countries. So to keep up with the traditions we came together with some of our friends, made way too much food and had fun drinking and playing trivia. I came up with a new potato salad recipe, which was delicious! And thankfully all the food was consumed in the following days, so there was no waste. It was a fun night full of laughter and we stayed up way too late so waking up the next morning was a challenge, but definitely worth it!

The Heart Goes Last – After reading a book that I had been waiting for ages to read and realising that it wasn’t quite as interesting to me I decided next to read something that I know I’ll enjoy. Well, when reading Margaret Atwood enjoy is not the right word, being intrigued, inspired and shaken would be closer to the truth. I have not finished this book yet, but can’t seem to be able to put the book down.

Dharma and Greg – This late 90s early 00s show is one of my favourites to watch again and again and every time I seem to get something new out of it. This time I am so inspired by how open and herself Dharma is and how she is not afraid to be a complete opposite from her husband and the in-laws and stays true to herself. The show introduces sustainability, oppression and what would be called weird to the Western culture, although in a comical way.

Laugh of the week – It was a cold and wet day (yes I know it is June) and I was walking home, thankfully during a break in the rain showers. A woman was hurrying towards my direction with her daughter. Suddenly the little girl saw a small puddle, decided to stop and started playing with her white and shiny little pony in it. The mother had walked way past me when she noticed that her daughter wasn’t next to her and started shouting something. But the joy in the little girl’s eyes when she got to play in that puddle reminded me of my childhood. It definitely put a smile on my face for the rest of the day!

How was your week? Let me know in the comment box below!

Evolve Organic Beauty Review

I introduced you to Evolve Organic Beauty a couple weeks ago and now I’ve finally had time to test it and give you my opinion. First of all, I absolutely loved the packaging it came in. It is very simple and minimalistic, and the little pouch they came in is very handy to store them in. I appreciate how they explain how the ingredients work for your skin and what ingredients are involved in the products. I only tried 4 products out of their collection, but would really love to try the other ones as well, especially the hair products!

Radiant Glow Mask

It has this chocolaty scent and slight grain to it, which makes it act as a mask and a scrub at the same time. This mask didn’t sting or itch like some other masks but felt moisturising on the skin and I felt great afterwards! The only thing I would change about this product is the scent. Although I love chocolate, I prefer my beauty products to be scented with something fresher and not as rich. Nevertheless, the scent was nice!

Hyaluronic Serum

A very easy to use serum, which absorbs quickly and hydrates the skin. I understand why it has been chosen as the winner for a couple of awards. It is so hydrating and I can use it for night or day. Also, you don’t need a lot of this product so it lasts a long time! I mean, I had only this small bottle and been using it for over two weeks and I’ve barely used any of it! The scent is neutral and the application is smooth. Excellent value for the price!

Miracle Facial Oil

This is the first time that I use facial oils to moisturise my skin, but especially for the night time, I am sure it won’t be the last time. This oil feels so nourishing and combined with the serum it’s just the best hydrating combo to make me feel good the next morning! The application though is not the easiest with the small pipet. I accidently pushed the bottle and lost third of the product with that. However, this is still good value product for the price and I will be buying more!

Daily Renew Facial Cream

This was the only product that I was not so keen on, although I think it might work wonders for other. It was a very moisturising cream, but compared to other moisturisers that I have, I didn’t feel it nourishing my skin quite in the same way. Also, although I like coconut, I thought this product smelled too much of coconut. I still think it is a great moisturiser to try, especially as you can buy the smaller containers to try out, as it can be a wonderful product for somebody else!

Overall, I love what I have tried for now and I know I will be buying more Evolve Beauty products! Check their website here.

Inspiration of the Month – Coromandel Flowers

I am absolutely in love with the Cabaret of Planets book, which I received for my birthday. It has been an excellent evening read, as it is interesting but does not make my heart pump with excitement so that I can’t sleep. The illustrations and pictures are lovely and it is so wonderful to read about the diversity of plants. The thousands of years old trees, the weird places where flowers bloom, how people are affected by plants and how they are discovered. This time I was really inspired by one of the illustrations in the book, which was part of illustration series called ‘Plants of the Coast of Coromandel’. The illustrations are stunning, so I just had to share them with you!

These pics I got from the Pinterest board Biodiversity library and I encourage those of you who loved these illustrations to go and check other ones that can be found there!

Finnish Beauty by Lumene

When I last visited Finland I was really eager to buy myself products from Lumene. We were supposed to visit their factory store, however, run out of time so I just picked a couple of items from the airport.

Finnish Beauty Brand Lumene - byLiiL

Lumene is a Finnish beauty brand, which when I was a child we considered a bit cheap. Now, however, the brand has really upped their game with natural and cruelty-free make up and skincare ranges, which are beautiful and with a reasonable price point. Items range from as small as £8 to some more luxurious items at £40.

I’ve used Lumene mascaras for a while now and can say that they some of the best I have tried. I would also really love to try the ‘Touch of Radiance highlighter’ and their ‘VALO’ (means light) range. Their products seem so natural and fresh, who wouldn’t like to try them? Check their full range here.

Unfortunately, they are rare in the UK, as they mostly sell in Scandinavia and Russia. There are some great items sold in the Beauty Spin, but otherwise, you might need to wait for a visit to Finland, Scandinavia or Russia to purchase them. For my sake, I hope they start selling more of their items in the UK and elsewhere in Europe as well!

MYPURE – the shop for natural beauty lover

I don’t know about the rest of you, but I want my beauty products to be as natural, organic and luxurious as possible. I’ve talked before about using Madara and Lush products, but other than Lush it is probably not as obvious where you can find natural beauty products. Since I was first introduced to Madara through another blog, I started researching where I could buy it from and the only shop that was selling it in the UK at that moment was MyPure.co.uk.

I was, of course, a bit sceptical about my first order with MyPure even though their website looked good, professional and reassuring. To my big surprise, MyPure was excellent at brushing my scepticism away. Not only were they really quick and efficient with my order, I got a free gift with my purchase.

MyPure is an online beauty shop for those who want organic skin care products. It stores a big number of different brands, which are all carefully curated to make sure they abide by the MYPURE purity promise. All products that are sold in the online store must be vegan/vegetarian, paraben free and chemical free unless otherwise mentioned.

There are several things, which makes me come back to them time after time, and it is not only the amazing range of brands. When you order for over £30 you get to choose a free gift to accompany your order from a big number of choices (this of course always makes me want to order more than just one product just to get the free gift as well). They have free delivery to the UK, a lot of sales and discounts and their packaging is, where possible, recycled.

So if you are new to MyPure, I recommend paying them a visit now!

Lush hair products I love

Continuing on my favourite products in use. Last time I told you about Madara, this time, it is a brand that everybody, I am sure, knows about. Lush. Yes, Lush is one of my favourite brands as well. It has spread the awareness of animal cruelty in the beauty industry and with that, and their beautifully scented products, gained a strong following of customers. I love going to the Lush store and picking up a couple of products to indulge in or brighten my bathroom with. Funnily enough, last time my sister visited me, she was wondering why my bathroom smelled always so nice. The answer is lush products. I always have some kind of lush soap in the bathroom and although it does not smell like in the lush store (I don’t think my boyfriend could take that, he gets a headache from two minutes in the store) it does bring that nice slight scent which is not too much on your face.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I didn’t come here to tell you about Lush as a brand, as I am sure all of you know it quite well, but rather of two products which I have become quite fond off. With my love for a more natural beauty regime, I wanted to incorporate that into my hair care as well. My hair is long and quite fine although, I have a lot of it. So when it comes to hair products I require volume and conditioning care. These two products from lush have been excellent for just that!

Seanik Shampoo bar

This is actually my second seanik shampoo bar in use, the last one lasted me ages and I loved it so much I had to get another one. Lush explains this shampoo bar as providing shine and volume, and I truly feel and see it. In addition, the scents are amazing! I do not really like those super sweet products at Lush, but rather go for the citrusy fresh ones and this is exactly it. With mimosa, jasmine and orange flower oils it provides the perfect combination of soothing, fresh and uplifting scents. So great for the hair and your mind!

Big solid conditioner

When I decided that I wanted to try a conditioner bar from lush I noticed that the store was running out of products (it was Saturday afternoon and the store was jam packed). So I picked the first one that had some mention on volume, hoping that it wouldn’t be a disappointment. Although, me picking up the last of this kind, was somewhat reassuring.

This product smells also incredible and is a great addition to have a nice smelling bathroom. It has a butter-like consistency, which at first I found quite confusing to use, but after a couple of times, I got used to it and was amazed at how little I needed it. After using this conditioner my hair smells amazing, feels soft and healthy and not at all greasy (which can happen with some conditioners). I adore the citrusy scents in it and I notice during the day I like to sniff my hair.. a lot!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It took me time to get used to the bar like shampoo and conditioner, but I love them and find them very handy for travelling. Now I am looking to adding some other lush shampoo’s and conditioners to try and add into my hair routine. It is good to mix things up to keep that healthy hair! If you are interested in learning more about these products head to Lush website to find Seanik shampoo bar and Big solid conditioner. What I really like about Lush products is that they are hand made with fresh ingreadients and they are transparent about their production with websites showing how their products are made. The only thing I would wish is to know whether their products are organic and where they are sourced from!
